216K+ Jobs Up for Grabs at DOLE’s Labor Day Job Fair in the Philippines

Over 216,000 employment opportunities will be available at the national job expos organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in celebration of Labor Day.

Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma of DOLE stated on Monday that job fairs will take place in a minimum of 69 locations nationwide, with approximately 2,281 companies taking part.

(We plan to hold large-scale job expos across 69 locations nationally. These events will feature a minimum of 2,200 employers, covering both local and international opportunities.)

“We also aim to increase the number of job openings compared to last year’s count. Three days before Labor Day, more vacant positions will be available,” he further stated.

(Our aim is to provide more job opportunities this year compared to last year. We still have three days left to achieve that.)

Based on data from DOLE, the job openings for the 2024 Labor Day Job Fair amounted to 235,000 positions—this figure surpasses the present available jobs which total 216,144. Out of these roles, 181,933 are domestic employment opportunities, with an additional 34,211 spots abroad.

A minimum of 14 locations for the job fairs will be within the National Capital Region (NCR); among these, 12 venues will host events on May 1, while the remaining two will take place on May 2.

In the meantime, the majority of available jobs come from sectors such as manufacturing, retail, business process outsourcing (BPO), hospitality/food services, and finance/insurance.

Leading job openings also encompass manufacturing operatives, retail associates, call center agents, service staff, and microfinance specialists.

According to the DOLE, the top five areas boasting the highest number of employment openings include NCR with more than 63,000 positions, Central Luzon with approximately 32,000 jobs, CALABARZON with over 18,000 roles, Western Visayas also with about 18,000 vacancies, and the Zamboanga Peninsula offering more than 13,000 chances for work.
