South Korean rider completes Tour of Luzon conquest

BAGUIO CITY — Joo Dae Yeong of South Korea’s Gapyeong Cycling Team logged the overall best time of 22 hours, 21 minutes and eight seconds to rule the Tour of Luzon that ended at the Summer Capital on Thursday.

Yoo timed 4:21:31 in the eighth and final stage, a Lingayen to Baguio City route, just enough to retain his overall lead by six seconds as Jan Paul Morales of Standard Insurance Philippines failed to overcome his 2:10 deficit entering the final lap of the race.

Morales logged 22:21:14 to claim second place while Jonel Carcueva of MPT Drivehub logged 22:22:00 to bag third place honors.

Meanwhile, Joshua Pascual of Excellent Noodles topped the back-breaking uphill leg with a clocking of 4:16:14 to also claim the ‘Eagle of the Mountain’ award.

Pascual was 2:20 ahead of runner-up Morales and 2:37 ahead of third placer Jonel Carcueva of MPT Drivehub in the final leg.
