Indian national in money lending business shot dead in Koronadal City

KORONADAL CITY – Police here are hunting down gunmen who shot dead Sunday, April 27, an Indian national whose body was found in Barangay San Isidro here.

Lt. Colonel Peter Pinalgan Jr, Koronadal City police chief, identified the victim as Manpreet Singh, a money-lending businessman and resident of Purok Masagana, Barangay Sto Niño, Koronadal City.

Pinalgan said a village watchman in Barangay San Isidro alerted the police about gunshots heard along a dirt road about 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 27.

Responding police found the victim beside his Honda motorcycle.

Singh sustained gunshot wounds in the head and body that resulted in his instant death, the police reported.

The Koronadal city police condemned the attack.

“We condemn the recent shooting incident that claimed the life of an Indian national. We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones,” the statement said.

“A thorough investigation is underway to bring the perpetrators to justice. We urge the public to cooperate with us and to provide any information that can aid the investigation,” it added.
