To be called off once more because of concerns for the safety of the individuals involved.

Eubank Jr. and Benn were scheduled to clash in October 2022, however, the match was canceled during fight week when Benn flunked two drug tests.

After two and a half years, they are finally scheduled to face each other in the ring next Saturday at the
Tottenham
At Hotspur Stadium, a bout took place at the middleweight limit weight of 160 lbs.

In 2022, Eubank Sr expressed concerns about the initial bout taking place at 157 lbs, as Benn was moving up from 147 lbs, whereas Eubank Jr had competed at 168 lbs before. He remains unconvinced that this month’s match should proceed.

At a charity event supporting his previous rival Michael Watson—who was in a coma for 40 days and suffered substantial brain injury from their 1991 bout—Eubank Sr urged regulatory bodies to prohibit the upcoming match between his son and Benn, aiming to avoid either boxer ending up like Watson.

An emotionally charged Eubank Sr stated, “They’re engaging in a bout that violates the rules of boxing.”

Talking about his plan to reach 160 and then drop back afterward, have you not gone over the regulations? Didn’t your promoter show you that such actions aren’t allowed according to the rules?

‘Those rules are in place to keep you safe and keep my son safe from ending up from what Michael Watson is having to endure and has been enduring for the last 32, 33, 34 years.

‘There has to be rules and I’m going to be the lawman to put these rules in the minds of the people. And I’m holding these reporters to account. You have to support the rules.’

Interest in the fight has skyrocketed in recent months, with Eubank Jr branding his rival a cheat after his failed drugs tests and smashing him around the face with an egg at their launch press conference in February after Benn had bizarrely claimed eating too many of them may have caused his positive tests.

Both fighters have stated that the match has taken on a more personal edge since it was first promoted based on family history following the two bouts between Eubank and Benn Sr in the 1990s.

However, Mr. Eubank Sr. isn’t convinced and maintains that the fight is solely fueled by financial gain. He also mentioned that he has been conveying this viewpoint to his son repeatedly over the years, yet his warnings have gone unheeded.

I informed my son three years back that the fight won’t take place,” Eubank Sr proceeded. “He’s at the incorrect weight. I explained to him why it should not occur and why it definitely won’t happen. I was right previously, and I’ll be right again this time around.

We cannot afford another Michael Watson. He is beloved by the public. These promotions are clouding your judgment. Barry (Hearn), your son (Eddie Hearn) mentioned that there’s genuine animosity now. What animosity? It’s all about the money. There isn’t really any hatred.

The hatred stems from the mentality of the event organizers. I hope you (Chris Jr) would pay attention, but I realize you won’t.

During an independent interview with
iFL TV
Eubank Sr struggled to contain his emotions as he described the bout as “a disgrace” and called for individuals to speak up to prevent such incidents from occurring. He also reaffirmed that his son is solely motivated by the monetary gain.

It’s shameful,” stated Eubuck Sr. “All of you should voice this out and ensure the Boxing Board of Control fulfills their responsibilities. We cannot act recklessly. We aren’t a nation of apes.

He’s (Jr.) interested solely in the money. My child won’t pay attention.

Benn’s father, Nigel, is anticipated to be beside his son on fight night, and there have been speculations suggesting that Eubank Sr might make amends with his own offspring to cheer him on from the edge of the boxing ring.

However, Eubank Sr has dismissed this idea, firmly stating that he will not show up since the fight cannot proceed.

Eubank Sr questioned, “The fight isn’t happening at all. So how could I go to a fight that’s not taking place?”

If I join them in their actions, if I stand beside my son, then I become part of the nonsense. I cannot do that.
