Quezon City’s Labor Day Event: Over 11,000 Jobs Up for Grabs!

MANILA, Philippines — As many as 11,000 jobs could be up for grabs at the Job Fair happening today in Quezon City, which is being organized by the local government to coincide with Labor Day.

As stated by the local government, around 100 firms including both private businesses and governmental organizations across different sectors will take part in the job fair.

The event will take place at the QC M.I.C.E. Center within the city hall complex from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Mayor Joy Belmonte stated in a release, ‘We extend an invitation to all job seekers, particularly our QC citizens, to seize this chance to kick-start their career journeys.’”

“By hosting this job fair, we are fulfilling our promise to build a city where all residents have access to good jobs. In Quezon City, we view employment as more than just an income; it represents empowerment, respect, and a way toward a brighter tomorrow,” she stated additionally.

A single location will be established to assist job seekers in fulfilling their employment prerequisites.

This encompasses registering as a member and obtaining IDs from organizations such as SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and the Philippine Statistics Authority.

A QCitizen ID booth will likewise be set up for residents requiring application or collection of their QCID cards.

The organizations taking part in the career expo include National Bookstore, Andok’s, Asia Brewery Inc., Hotel SOGO, Max’s Kitchen Inc., JAC Liner Company, Robinsons Supermarket, Savemore Market, Classic Savory, SM Supermarket and Hypermarket, Solaire Resort North, UnionBank, and Zest-O Corporation.


Labor Day protests

In the meantime, approximately 10,000 demonstrators are anticipated to take part in protests in Manila today.

Led by Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), activist organizations will gather at Liwasang Bonifacio, located across from the Manila Central Post Office, starting at 8 a.m.

The KMU and its partner groups are demanding a mandated P1,200 increase in wages for all employees.

On this Labor Day, Senator Francis Escudero praised the workforce for their significant impact on the nation’s economy.

Staff members showing up for work today have the right to be paid twice their usual daily wage, as stated by the Department of Labor and Employment.
