BACOLOD CITY — A motorcycle rider who was flagged down at a checkpoint for having no helmet yielded sample ballots with money on Saturday in Bacong town, Negros Oriental.
The police said that the rider, identified as Romnick Viola Adalim, 36, was arrested at a checkpoint in Barangay Lutao, Bacong.
PCMS Roel Santasñez, team leader of the checkpoint, said the authorities manning the checkpoint flagged down the rider for wearing no helmet.
When the suspect was accosted, he was asked to present his documents, but upon opening the utility box of the mo-torcycle, the police saw envelopes containing money and sample ballots with the names of some candidates in the May 12 elections.
Each envelope contained P900, totaling about P35,100 in all.
The suspect is now facing charges for violating Comelec’s Resolution 11104 or the “Kontra-Bigay” policy.
