  • A 35-year-old player beat Justin Rose in a playoff to win £3.1 million in prize money.

A charitable organization from Northern Ireland has released a statement after speculations began circulating regarding
Rory McIlroy
‘ wins from the 2025 Masters.

Following an exhilarating last day at the Augusta National, McIlroy secured his win on Sunday by defeating Justin Rose in a closely contested playoff.

By achieving this, McIlroy finally completed the last part of the Grand Slam jigsaw he had been striving for throughout his distinguished career.

By winning all four of the sport’s premier tournaments at age 35, he joined the ranks of legendary golfers who have achieved the Grand Slam, alongside notable figures like
Tiger Woods
and Jack Nicklaus.

On Sunday, his win allowed McIlroy to collect prize money totaling $4.1 million (£3.1 million).

After the occurrence, speculative reports suggested that McIlroy decided to contribute his prize money to the charity organization Mencap NI.

Previously, McIlroy has collaborated extensively with this charity, which assists individuals with learning disabilities in his homeland, via his personal philanthropic group known as the Rory Foundation.

Nevertheless, Grainne Close, the Director of Mencap Northern Ireland, issued a statement asserting that the reports were ‘inaccurate’ and commended McIlroy for his achievement.

The message stated: “Rory McIlroy has greatly supported Mencap, having assisted with the construction of our children’s center in Belfast some years back.”

Nevertheless, we want to correct the record as statements claiming he contributed his earnings from a recent competition to Mencap are incorrect.

We continue to be profoundly thankful for his kindness and dedication to our mission, and we want to extend our congratulations on his latest achievements.
